The Road to Ojo
Sarco
This is the story of an artist alone, beyond Apache
Pass, creating her own landscape. Husband and lovers come and go, as
she decides them. Waterfalls appear at her whim. Still, she must
survive eighteen relentless winters. Her
journals reveal her, as shy stone, in the dry eye of wisdom. |

The Book - An eighteen year journal. Life as landscape. An artist retreats up the last arroyo, and makes the land itself her art, and survival the daily need. Extending the tradition of Walden Pond, The Inland Island, and Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, The Road to Ojo Sarco is about the struggle to survive in the present, in the thrilling but life-threatening landscape of the West. Introduction - An intro is a bridge, to prepare the reader, before he or she jumps into the river of words, and soaks up the life they define. These journals are real and felt, a private record. They’ve served their author as company, solace, and insulation on sub-zero nights, beyond Apache Pass, at Fort Defiance, the name of the author’s hand-built home. As she transformed the land, it transformed her. Here in her journals are a record of the process, in her own voice. She does not spare herself. Ultimately her art is her life and how she has lived it, in the fullness of self-definition...EB Author - Catherine
Case Cohen. This would be her first published book, though she has
been
writing privately for 30 years. She has performed in concert as an
improvisational jazz pianist in Santa Fe and Taos, and also built
waterfalls and caves for the rich and famous there. Packaging - Firefallmedia can edit and design the book, in consultation with the publisher.
